Sizzix Tim Holtz - Funky Cactus Die Cuts
For our second Featured Products Project we have used the Tim Holtz Funky Cactus die set.
There is something for everyone this month! We have four projects including a 3D project, a tag, a card and an art journal page.
Read on to see all of the great projects!
Jodene has created two projects; a 3D project and a tag.
The 3D project features the Prima Altered Metal Frame Alarm Clock. The metal frame was painted with distress ink, then some 49 & Market rub-ons were added before some vintage gold wax from Prima was added around the edges for some soft metallic detail.
Suzanne has created a gorgeous card using distress paints and the new Honey Bee white ink to create the fun rustic background.
Distress inks were used to colour the cacti, and texutre was added to the project using a Paper Rose background die, some twine and a chipboard sentiment from The Dusty Attic.
Jodene's second project is a mixed media style tag, which was cut from the largest of the Tim Holtz Tag Tag Collection Framelits. The background was inked with distress ink, and some visitble image texture stamps were used.
The cacti and pots were coloured with distress inks and distress oxides then added to the tag. Some sisal fibres were glued along the bottom for interest and some different twine was added to the top. The tag was finished off with a quote from Tim Holtz.
The cactus dies were die cut and then coloured with a mix of distress oxides and distress inks. The ones that go inside the frame were attached to toothpicks. The 'ground' or base inside the frame was constructed with styrofoam and sprayed with distress spray, and some sisal fibres were added around on top to give the look of dried grass. The chipboard fence from Dusty Attic was inked with distress inks, glued to toothpicks and attached into the ground.
The back of the clock was removed and left black, but splattered with some white paint to give the look of starts. The Tim Holtz Mountain Top thinlits die was cut from coloured card and attached to the background. An extra two cactus and a chipboard windmill were added to the front of the frame, and a set of tiny lights from Tim Holtz was attached to the inside which really brings the project to life!
We hope you enjoyed today's projects!

Marelize has created a fabulous double art journal page using mixed media techniques in a Dina Wakley 6'x6' art journal.
She has used book pages as a base on the bottom half of the page and also used paint, ink and texture paste. The mountains were done with paint, and some white gauze has been used to create clouds which adds so much texture to the sky.
The cacti were die cut with coloured cardstock and accentuated with inking and white gel pens.
